I believe the end symbolized the evening. Bush made a joke, a very simply one, and got laughs, then on Kerry's turn he made a joke, a better one, and got more laughs.
Bush was more stable this time and it was his best debate but he just doesn't have the ammo and is just out of his league against Kerry.
Unfortunately Bush was at his best last night. More effective than the jokes was the reference to the painting in his office and the way his eyes teared up when speaking about his love for his wife and daughters. You almost want to believe him. I think one of Kerry's strongest points at least for me last night was the religion and abortion issue. He really stressed that religion should not dominate ones constitutional rights and that our leader has to make decisions based on what is best for all the people regardless of his own religious beliefs.

More people laughed at Kerry's. I may be deaf, but that was not my impression. Either way, how can you judge a debate from a joke at the end. (I actually thought Kerry's joke was kind of sad though, mostly because it's true).

O, I agree with you completely. I also find it hard to recognize that the President is a human being who actually has feelings and is married to the one he loves. Of course, he couldn't have a good family life since he is such a fool who craves power and does everything bad in the world.
EDIT: O ya. Bush did a GREAT job last night. Kerry was floundering and Bush really took advantage of him. People say Bush was enraged and angry but he really wasn't. You just believe the liberal talking points and whatever you hear on Communist National Network (CNN elongated). :)

This is a good example of why we need you in this forum Andy. I thought CNN stood for Conservative News Network. I guess that shows that, unlike other networks, CNN is truly balanced because it pisses off the left and right equally.
Regarding Bush's soft side. It is common for Republicans to be endeared to the things in their immediate world (i.e., their family, their pet, their race, their religion, their flag, their tax bracket, etc..). The problem is that they have a real problem emotionally connecting with "the others" ;)

If CNN is the right of you, you are VERY liberal. More so than John Kerry (hard to be) possibly.
And stop insinuating the conservatives are ruthless. So just because we encourage self responsibility and not giving money away we are not compassionate? I don't believe that the gov't should just ignore everybody and let them all die, but I think all of these extra social programs are ridiculous. There are people that just collect money from the government when they are able to work, just too lazy. There are others that need it however.
Yes. Those lazy poor people and greedy grocery baggers should stop bugging us virtuous, hard working well-to-do folks. Has anyone seen my golf clubs?

Good job on misconstruing my words. I applaud you.
What I said was that SOME (not a lot), but SOME poor people are lazy and don't have a work ethic. This is a very small minority, and I believe that if you are in a condition to work (not a major illness or some other circumstance) you should not be recieving that much government assistance.
And about baggers. It is a great starting job, but sooner or later you have to move on or move higher up in management in the grociery company. You can't be doing that job forever. And I applaud those who bag and the move up to a supervisor and keep moving up and get raises and then go into management or something like that.
