Just about every song by Rage Against the Machine could be considered progressive/left-wing in some way or another, but this one especially stands out to me. Although it seems to have been written in response to Clinton's bombing of Iraq, the lyrics hold true today more than ever.

Testify

The movie ran through me
The glamour subdue me
The tabloid untie me
I'm empty please fill me
Mister anchor assure me
That Baghdad is burning
Your voice it is so soothing
That cunning mantra of killing
I need you my witness
To dress this up so bloodless
To numb me and purge me now
Of thoughts of blaming you
Yes the car is our wheelchair
My witness your coughing
Oily silence mocks the legless
Ones who travel now in coffins
But on the corner
The jury's sleepless
We found your weakness
And it's right outside our door

Now testify

With precision you feed me
My witness I'm hungry
Your temple it calms me
So I can carry on
My slaving sweating the skin right off my bones
On a bed of fire I'm choking on the smoke that fills my home
The wrecking ball rushing
My witness your blushing
The pipeline is gushing
While here we lie in tombs
While on the corner
The jury's sleepless
We found your weakness
And it's right outside your door

Now testify

Mass graves for the pump and the price is set

Who controls the past now controls the future
Who controls the present now controls the past
Who controls the past now controls the future
Who controls the present now?

Now testify

Thank you, JamesP. The illuminati know the last verse well and created the "machine" to make it so, but by applying the last line in the last verse in life, We, the people are able to create the world through and within the mind of God.

It's RATM, pretty much every song's like that, I especially liked "Bulls on Parade" it got me interested in the military-industrial complex back in the day, and "Guerrilla radio" for the unrelenting attack on both the right and the so-called "left" of the nation.

What about "BYOB" and "BOOM!" by System Of A Down? "Sugar" Was better IMO but those are still good.

Yeah, I was thinking of posting the lyrics of more Rage songs, but decided to just stick with this one for now. I've been listening to their music for years. I used to try to figure out how to play songs like "Bulls on Parade" and "Calm like a Bomb" on my guitar. The lyrics to "Guerrilla Radio" probably would have went better with the music video for "Testify", directed by Michael Moore (linked below). System of a Down songs are pretty cool too. I agree with you that "Sugar" was a better song, but I can barely understand the words to that one let alone find a political or social message.

Transcript of the reporter's lines:

"Good evening. I'm Eric Gallost

NATO forces bombed Serbia and Kosovo -

An unidentified man is being held for questioning by the FBI for suspected links to last month's biological virus test-

In local news, a dog named Nero, takes the grand prize at the annual - I wish I could tell you more pertinent news, but we're on a ratings system here, and the key factor is: Sensationalism. They got you running in circles, nine to five --- and five to nine... You're mine. I tell you what they want you to know, and you consider it the truth. Nobody is opening their eyes - Our whole economy is depleting the world of our lives, and natural resources! And are you happy!? Come on!! I WORK FOR THE SYSTEM!"

Lyrics:

The kombucha mushroom people,
Sitting around all day,
Who can believe you,
Who can believe you,
Let your mother pray, (sugar)

Well Im not there all the time you know
Some people, some people, some people,
Call it insane, yeah they call it insane, (sugar)
I play russian roulette everyday, a mans sport,
With a bullet called life, yeah called life,(sugar)
You know that every time I try to go
Where I really want to be,
Its already where I am,
Cause Im already there.(sugar)

The kombucha mushroom people,
Sitting around all day,
Who can believe you,
Who can believe you,
Let your mother pray, (sugar)

I got a gun the other day from sako,
Its cute, small, fits right in my pocket,
Yeah, right in my pocket, (sugar)
My girl, you know, she lashes out at me sometimes,
And I just kick her, and then shes o.k. ,shes o.k.(sugar)
People are always chasing me down,
Trying to push my face to the ground,
Where all they really want to do,
Is suck out my mother ****ing brains, my brains (sugar).

The kombucha mushroom people,
Sitting around all day,
Who can believe you,
Who can believe you,
Let your mother pray~,

I sit, in my desolate room, no lights, no music,
Just anger, Ive killed everyone,
Im away forever, but Im feeling better,
How do I feel, what do I say,
**** you, it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
**** you, it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
In the end it all goes away,
In the end it all goes away,
In the end it all goes away,
In the end it all goes away.
