It took a while for all of America to realize that the joke was on Archie Bunker and his closed-minded points of view but by the time the series was over we were all a lot wiser for having watched. Though his hippie son-in-law, Meathead, didn't win all the arguments, there can be little doubt that this show brought more liberal ideas into American living rooms than decades of politicians at their podiums.
