War is big business in America. As a matter of fact, the manufacturing of weapons is America's biggest industry and America's biggest export.
But you won't hear much about this in the media, because the same corporations that have military "offense" contracts and build missles and bombs also own the major networks. Oh my.
If our number one export was cheese we'd be promoting cheese like there was no tomorrow. But, when you sell weapons you need a world of conflict in order to make a buck. No wonder Bush is out there with all his cowboy talk ... "dead or alive" ... "bring 'em on". No wonder he squandered the post 9-11 sympathy pouring out from the people of the world. He doesn't want that kind of world. The last thing the man wants is peace. What would America sell?

What? mentioned the Carlyle Group of which I wrote WAY LONG AGO on this site, when grate lady was as active as now....guess it slipped the mind.. ALL the wonderfull CONSERVATIVES (including grate lady :D) so supportive of our uneducated young (troops), and U.S taxpayes (we middleclass people trying to hang on to what we earned!) in spite of ignorant voters............
"How will President George W. Bush personally make millions (if not billions) from the War on Terror and Iraq? The old fashioned way. He'll inherit it.

It is hard to imagine an address closer to the heart of American power. The offices of the Carlyle Group are on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC, midway between the White House and the Capitol building, and within a stone's throw of the headquarters of the FBI and numerous government departments. The address reflects Carlyle's position at the very center of the Washington establishment, but amid the frenetic politicking that has occupied the higher reaches of that world in recent weeks, few have paid it much attention. Elsewhere, few have even heard of it...
But since the start of the "war on terrorism", the firm - unofficially valued at $13.5bn - has taken on an added significance. Carlyle has become the thread which indirectly links American military policy in Afghanistan to the personal financial fortunes of its celebrity employees, not least the current president's father. And, until earlier this month, Carlyle provided another curious link to the Afghan crisis: among the firm's multi-million-dollar investors were members of the family of Osama bin Laden More..."

Thank you for "calling me" on this. My source is Noam Chomsky (who I think is brilliant). But this got me thinking. Too often in debate or in chat rooms we call something in print or something on TV "the truth", without our own research. And although I believe Mr. Chomsky's research, I wanted to see what I could discover on my own.
No easy task.
This helps to answers the question:

Anyone who wants to join in the reseach I found a niffy tool:

Suffice to say that the United States is the world's biggest manufacturer and exporter of weapons by far!
