Democrats - Language Matters
(a lesson in reverse from Newt Gingrich who was inspired by George Orwell)
It's time to call Republicans what they are. They don't deserve to be called "Republicans" because they are destoying the Republic. They don't deserve to be called "Conservatives" because God knows they conserve nothing, especially taxpayer's money. The don't deserve to be called the "right" for obvious reasons. We can't call then "Neocons" or "Neoconservatives" because there is nothing new or conservative about them. We can call them fascists, but most Americans bristle at the word. But here is a label that fits them well and I am going to start using it.
They are Regressives or add some alliteration and say the Regressive-right . They are Regressive. We are Progressive!
To quote the brilliant Dr. Ernest Partridge:
The right is “regressive,” in the sense that their program proposes to take us back, economically, to a time before The New Deal, and even before the Progressive reforms of Theodore Roosevelt – back to the late nineteenth-century Gilded Age” of unrestrained capitalism. With their rejection of the separation of church and state, of due process of law and of Constitutional guarantees of civil liberties, the regressives would take us back to before the founding of our Republic.
