If this were LibertariansOnline you might expect there to be no rules. If this was ConservativesOnline there would be plenty of rules but they would be faith based and corporate lobbied, with a focus on profits rather than principles. However, if you're here, odds are you are already a community minded, compassionate soul who respects diversity and freedom while understanding that, ultimately, nobody wins unless everybody wins. But, read on anyway:

Please COMMUNICATE progressively not aggressively. Be as strong and forceful on the issues as you wish, but seek multi-lateral diplomacy with other members rather than launch a pre-emptive strike. Let us not forget the mantra of our flower wearing forefathers and foremothers, "make love, not war". The test to apply before submitting any post is "would I say this if I were face to face rather than behind a computer screen?" Shoes and shirts are optional but you should curb your tongue here the same as you would in any public place.

In consideration of everyone's time and space:

Start your thread in the correct forum. Example: Site suggestions belong in the "Suggestion Box" not in the "Main" forum (which is meant for misc. topics that don't already exist in one of the topic specific forums).

Use descriptive thread titles and be sure to review the other thread titles before creating a new thread. There should not be duplicate topics.

Do not disrupt a discussion by posting a reply that is not related to the current topic.

Do not create multiple member profiles. IP's are monitered. Duplicate profiles may result in banning.

Make an effort to spell correctly but do NOT point out someone else's grammatical errors. Style over substance is not a progressive approach. (tip: Internet Explorer users might check out iespell.com for a convenient spell checking tool).

Do not hoard space with long signatures or large images.

Advertise your ideas not your site, service, or items for sale.

Do not post copyrighted material. If you quote someone else, credit the source just like you were supposed to do in school.

Do not ramble on. The longer your post, the less likely people will be to read it.

Know when to speak and when not to. Recognize when an argument is pointless and refrain from the urge to get in the last word. Initiate or accept a compromise and move on.

DO enjoy your visit!

Good rules! Question about using pictures. I like pictures/ charts/ graphs to demonstrate a point or inform. And sometimes a picture is worth a 1,000 words. :) Could you be more specific O' Great Progressive Leader?

Thanks a bunch there, Marge. Oh ya. :D

pictures are encouraged. There are some size limitations and you should respect copyrights. We'll have to post more on the copyright stuff which is, of course, complex.
