In lue of the upcoming Oscars, this thread honors people in the film industry who have had an outstanding record of propogating progressive ideals on and off screen.

Instead of ducking the label, "Hollywood Liberals" it's time to celebrate them and their colleagues all over the world. These writer's, actors, and directors have had a significant influence on moving society in the right direction. They've taken issues that were once black and white in people's minds and converted them to living color. In the process, they've touched our minds and hearts in ways that politician's never could. :salut:

Here's a link to a short essay George Clooney on why he is proud to be a liberal:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/george-clooney/i-am-a-liberal-there-i-_b_17119.html

His acceptance speech of a 2006 Oscar concluded with him saying that he was proud to be one of the "out of touch" in Hollywood, meaning, ahead of their time in regards to social issues.

I'd be proud to see him take on the Terminator for Governor or, for that matter, take on any Regressive for President of the United States.
