I thought Clark might be the savior we were looking for when he threw his hat in the Democratic primaries in '04 but he needlessly fumbled the ball a few times and demonstrated he wasn't not ready for prime time.
It is still unlikely that running for president is his kind of battle, but I'd give him another look.

Damned if I am Green, but I still admire this man more than I can say. I think that although he is very much a longtime part of the military establishment, he has the coolness of temper that almost completely offsets that. (Greens are upset when I speak glowingly of Clark, so I have to lay low on this.)
If Dems ran him in 2008, I'd vote for him. Especially if we are still mired in Iraq. He knows how to fight war properly, but moreover, he knows how to avoid war: One of his greatest strengths is his political knowledge and his preference for diplomacy over battle. He is an eloquent speaker, not to mention that he is probably also the most brilliant military mind today.
I have not heard (so far at least) that he has any blemishes on his record.
Who else do the Dems have?

I have thought he is the best thing the DEMS have for long time (since Bill Bradley). I see him as a DEM version of Eisenhower and very pragmatic. The way this is shaping up with now Biden and Edwards in Clark is very unlikely to be a candidate IMHO.

Wesley Clark??? Why? I prefer a man of the people. A man who isn't in the pocket of the military-industrial complex. A man who is pro-peace. A man like Dennis Kucinich.

Wesley Clark, Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), Supreme Allied Commander NATO 1997 - 2000 and proud member of the RepubliCratic Party of America. Vote Green Party!

Below is the NATO piece of the New World Order plan. Wesley Clark, as a viable Presidential candidate and past Supreme Allied Commander NATO 1997 - 2000, is conspicuously missing from the list of those who had created the plan and/or those recommended to meet for the purposes of organizing and implementing the plan. Wesley Clark, Presidential candidate, does make eminent sense in that New World Order context:
MAXIMIZING NATO FOR THE WAR ON TERROR
PRESIDENTIAL LEADERSHIP CAN STRENGTHEN THE TRANSATLANTIC
RELATIONSHIP BY DEFINING AND PURSUING SHARED
HOMELAND SECURITY INTERESTS
CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF THE PRESIDENCY

Now I have. Scratch that idea. :(
