I highly recommend the book, "Trance: Formation of America" by Cathy O'Brian and Mark Phillips. Their book is real, very real, is excedingly disturbing and is not for the faint of heart. "The Trance: Formation of America" has been self published since it's first edition and is now in it's 13TH printing. I purchased my copy of that book in 1995. Several years ago I met Cathy and Mark at an evening lecture they gave at the Unitarian Unversalist Church in San Francisco. If you have an oportunity to go to hear them speak, you will be awed by the immensity of their message. Reguardless of how difficult it was for me to read "The Trance: Formation of America," reading it in paragraphs rather than pages sometimes before I had to put it down, Cathy's and Mark's book opened my eyes to more of the truth. Action may be wasted when it is not based in reality and on truth. Always when I have spoken truth to power I have won.
