There is an excellent book I read years ago that included details of an official interrogation that was carried out by U.S. agents on a female North Korean agent captured for the bombing of Korean Flight 858 in which 115 people were killed. The author is Hyun Hee Kim, the female North Korean agent who participated in that bombing. The book is entitled, "Tears of My Soul."
The efficacy of torture as a method to extract intelligence information is discussed in the book, Tears of My Soul. Torture was never used in the case of Hyun Hee Kim. All the information that was wanted by U.S. agents was obtained by them without the use of torture. I recommend that anyone interested in best practices for obtaining intelligence information from adversaries read "Tears of My Soul."
