Bush and Saddam Should Both Stand Trial, Says Nuremberg Prosecutor

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 25 (OneWorld) - A chief prosecutor of Nazi war crimes at Nuremberg has said George W. Bush should be tried for war crimes along with Saddam Hussein. Benjamin Ferencz, who secured convictions for 22 Nazi officers for their work in orchestrating the death squads that killed more than 1 million people, told OneWorld both Bush and Saddam should be tried for starting "aggressive" wars--Saddam for his 1990 attack on Kuwait and Bush for his 2003 invasion of Iraq.

"Nuremberg declared that aggressive war is the supreme international crime," the 87-year-old Ferencz told OneWorld from his home in New York. He said the United Nations charter, which was written after the carnage of World War II, contains a provision that no nation can use armed force without the permission of the UN Security Council.

Truth is simple.
Aggressive war is the supreme international crime.
No amount of Bush administration propoganda can make it otherwise.
There were no wmd in Iraq. Iraq was no threat to the USA. The UN did not sanction our action... and for good reason. The war was and is wrong.

Ultimately, the UN and an international court system where world leaders can be held accountable for crimes against humanity are amongst a very few pathways to rationality and justice in the world.

The Bush administration has shamed our country in it's disdain for both entities and for the very concept of "accountability".

The irony is as thick as New York cheesecake.

The NeoCons new buzz word is "fascist.' They're calling everybody a fascist. It's actually quite brilliant. I have to give their think tanks credit. The stradegy is of course: If they are calling others fascist, then how could they possibly be fascist? They are fighting fascism!

And yet, a chief prosecutor of Nazi war crimes at Nuremberg, who has studied a fascist or two, says George W. Bush should be tried for war crimes along with Saddam Hussein.

Hi, Jane of Arc. What came to mind for me was, "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time." The problem is that people in power now know we know what is going on, but don't care a whit that we do, such is their facist arrogance.
