This poll is inspired by an interesting trend on this forum over the years. When Republicans visit the friendly shores of our progressive paradise and take shots at liberal politicians, pundits, etc.. who have done wrong, it is not unusual for progressives here to reply, "excuse me, but you may have mistaken me for someone who gives a damn!"

Libs and progressives here, and for the most part, everywhere, do not blindly defend everyone on the left the way all the right-wingers here do anyone on the right.

Though the Clintons, Kerry, Air America, NPR, etc.. have done some great work we've been critical of them ALL. We champion concepts, ideas, principles, policies, ethics over individual leaders or even parties for that matter.

Meanwhile regressive types have fiercly clinged to the worst President in history and the most reprehensible characters in media (e.g. Rush, O'Reilly, Coulter, etc.). In fact, the stated policy of the most popular right-wing forum, Free Republic, is that their members are not allowed to speak negatively about the President or against the party line or they will find themselves banned without warning! And conservatives still flock to it.

Personally, I chose the #1 "human" answer to the question in this poll. But though I love all animals and I don't mean to disparage any one of them, I tend to believe that if Republicans were non-human animals in a previous life they would have been sheep.

Given that, I have a series of questions for any GOP follower reading this:

Does it tickle when pundits on the right pull your wool over your eyes or does it just make you sleep?

Does it sting when you get fleeced by this administration's failed policies, corruption, and ineptness (e.g. Iraq, gas prices, Katrina, etc.)?

Can you really find shelter hiding behind the Bush's with the WOLFowitz's and the corporate fat cats lurking nearby?

Do you prefer to be herded by the pope's/bishop's/Klan leader's pointy little hats OR prodded with their staffs and threats of fire and brimstone?

How will you tell one another apart when the false prophets brand you all with the same number of the beast, 666?

Don't you get hungry and thirsty living off the scraps that are left after the greedy rich pigs are done gorging (and gouging) at the trough?

Does the flock huddle close together because your sensitive egos find safety in numbers or do you never stray from the herd because you fear being analy probed by one of the redneck farm hands who clean up after you soil yourselves when the terror alert level is raised or a black sheep moves into the neighborhood?

IMHO,

about 40% SHEEP, Top 2% VULTURES, and I guess the rest will get human(e) and see the light ONE of these days......depending when they FEEL THE PAIN (like loose their employment and their healthcare or the breadwinner gets VERY sick and CAN'T bring home the bacon, or ........?)

What fools we mortals be!

For all the years since dumwit took office I've felt that part of the public here were SOL. S standing for Sheep, O standing for Ostriches, and of course L standing for Lemmings. GOP in my view stands for Greed, Obfuscation and Puritanism. Let us all cross all fingers and toes - get out and vote - fight any illegal results at the next elections, and take the country back.

I think that the people in the pews of these right wing republican churches are sheep and that people like Ralph Reed, Abramoff, and Tom Delay are humans who exploit the sheep for all there worth (I can't think of a more rapacious species of animal then humans.) I grew up in a fundy church and I can tell you that so many of the people are preprogramed, so, I will say they are robotic sheep. Progressives are humans who have principals and think for themselves, we need to reprogram these robotic sheep and help them gain sentiance before they run over a cliff like lemmings and take everyone with them.

Republicans are human, though it might be easier to hug them if we picture them as sheep.
