In a zoo in California, a mother tiger gave birth to a premature set of rare triplet tiger cubs that died shortly after birth.
When the mother's health started to decline, though physically she was fine, the veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had sent her into a depression. They decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve. They were right and the 5 little pigs couldn't have been any happier either.

Now that engenders wonder and awe if I ever felt it. Thank you for posting those pictures, -V-. I can see them just fine now!
For anyone seeking to influence others politically, fact-checking is essential- please don't believe everything you see! Often, the true story is even more interesting, such is the case here- pix are from a zoo in Thailand, but the sentimental story attached is completely fabricated according to snopes.com, (references are provided by the site.) In reality, these animals do happily co-exist with other species, including mothering and nursing, but tourist entertainment is the reason for these unusual (and very interesting!) pairings. Check it out here: http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/tigerpig.asp
Thanks, 3One4, for the important reminder.
Credibility demands that we avoid playing into the stereotype of "dreamy, air-headed liberals" gullibly buying into silly animal fantasies about the "tiger & piglet living together in harmony".
Maybe we can dream lofty dreams of rational humans living together in peace, but the carnivorous tiger and the little piglets! Wow!
the carnivorous tiger and the little piglets! Wow!
as 3one4 states, the pictures of the tiger mothering the pigs are real -- it is only the reason that they were joined that was not accurate.
You can still feel free to "wow" at this demonstration that the maternal instinct is stronger than the carnivourous one.
Resist the urge to pounce yourself JimmyP

At least the pictures showing that big cat and piglets together is real, or was that photo-shopped??? It is true that the corporate media has no moral compunction about lying outright to the American public, so if people want to know what's real, they have now got to dig for the information themselves. A long time ago press journalists used to do that job professionally, but not any more. It's very sad. :dissapointed:
The cat and piglets is real. There are many cases of mother's of one species raising another. Barbara Bush raised a jackel.
:D
That was my first response and then an immediate blow to my heart and stomach, at all the evil that savage pack of jackals committed all over this globe,
............................. leaves me SICK!
YES! Give PEACE and SINCERE DIPLOMACY a chance!

Hi,
I am new to this forum and this is great!
I can't help but wonder what would happen if the pigs didn't have little fur coats on? And are they faux? Lol
If a piglet lost it's jacket, would she suddenly think "bacon" and pounce? :)

To be perfectly fair, the first Bush was also a snake, so it might be in the blood.
