Snowdog & I had considerable conversation about Pat Tillman on this thread long ago. Although I posted his brother Kevin's letter on another thread, it also certainly belongs here, for Pat & Kevin Tillman are truly American Heros

Where are you Snow Dog?

http://progressivesonline.com/showthread.php?t=15 :

An article from Pat's brother & family and comments from Vets and non-veteran VOTERS set to go NOV. 7th!

So very sad, but inspiration to Get Out The Vote!

The AZ Republic had Kevin Tillman's "scathing indictment of the war in Iraq, the Bush administraton and American apathy" on the front page today! Headline: "Tillman's brother breaks silence"

Trudeau (Continued)

Good to see that CBS.news picked up my recent Editor's Cut regarding Gary Trudeau's wonderful, inspired project, The Sandbox. That posting led to this very moving comment from a military parent….

"This is fantastic- I cannot believe what a great idea this is and I am so grateful to Trudeau for conceiving of it and instituting it.

I am a member of Military Families Speak Out and though I do not speak for my organization, I know enough about the agonies that all of us face on a daily basis with regard to lack of honesty and reality with regard to this heinous war.

The degree of agony that all of us feel- and the nature of the deception, the atrocities commited against our own children with lack of medical care and even the lack of dignity as to the nature of their sacrifice is almost unbearable. If others can come to understand the futility and the disgrace of our foreign policy in Iraq and elsewhere perhaps we can overturn the likes of the propaganda as in this week's comments by our vice president about how much progress we are making there. How do we make progress on a war based upon lies and certainly a war that could never be won at any level. My child and your children and all of your loved ones are at risk- we are killing not only the Iraqis and our soldiers- we are killing America."

After Pat's Birthday

Posted on Oct 19, 2006

By Kevin Tillman

Editor's note: Kevin Tillman joined the Army with his brother Pat in 2002, and they served together in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pat was killed in Afghanistan on April 22, 2004. Kevin, who was discharged in 2005, has written a powerful, must-read document.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"Luckily this country is still a democracy. People still have a voice. People still can take action. It can start after Pat's birthday.

Brother and Friend of Pat Tillman,

Kevin Tillman "

WOW!, pretty powerful stuff coming from a troop, ther Frank. Thanks for passing that on. The Sandbox is a worthy site to visit, thanks for the heads up on that KVH. I have been reading a Doonsebury retrospective while astride the Crab throne lately. Scary to see the SOS come back around. even many of the same players, who failed to learn the right lessons from the Viet Nam/Watergate era.

Who remembers "GUILTY!! GUILTY !!! GUILTY!!!!" ?

I see Fear is running proud this week in Trudeau's world. He must be paying attention again. Good man, that cartoonist. Darin(MBB), if you have mised this weeks strips, take a gander.

I was wondering, with out taking away from the Tillman letter or the letter in the article, if there are any other letters supporting the other side of the war or are they all from the against the Iraq war perspective.

If you can find one as important as that from Kevin Tillman's brother please don't hesitate to post it.

Then you think, whoa, what the F___ are they doing in a shooting gallery like Iraq for the likes of Cheney and Rummy??

Kevin Tillman is a vet who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. You may remember his brother Pat Tillman, a former NFL player whose death (by friendly fire) in Afghanistan was a media 'cause celebre' in 2004. Kevin Tillman has since been discharged and has written a really moving piece that I would encourage everyone to read (http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/200601019_after_pats_birthday/).

Somehow we were sent to invade a nation because it was a direct threat to the American people, or to the world, or harbored terrorists, or was involved in the September 11 attacks, or received weapons-grade uranium from Niger, or had mobile weapons labs, or WMD, or had a need to be liberated, or we needed to establish a democracy, or stop an insurgency, or stop a civil war we created that can’t be called a civil war even though it is. Something like that.

I hope you don't mind that I undeleted the thread that you canceled Lion. In this case, the topic did deserve its own thread thread instead of being buried in the humongous Cindy Sheehan one (the posts default to chronological order, however, so your's is last).
