I'm not sure where my loyalty lies with this case. It's been known that a lot girls in the Philippines set up rape for payoffs from Americans.
On the other hand... physical evidence shows rape and spectatorship but I also know how easy it is to fabricate any form of records in that hell hole. I'm not a doctor nor a lawyer so I don't know if going to the doctor 3 days after the alleged rape is reliable evidence or could she have caused some of the injuries herself.
She is also known to be a bar hopper who's looking for a benefactor.
but..
Just because someone is of questionable moral character doesn't hinder the fact that she also can be a victim. We all know a crime doesn't discriminate within the social ladder then the very least she would be guilty of is poor judgement but victim nonetheless.
Daniel Smith has been found guilty and faces 40 years. What a waste of life if he was just set up. It just makes me sad one way or the other because rape in that country is a sick sign of machismo when it comes to Filipinos to Filipinos. As a matter of fact rape has been a tool to force a girl that doesn't like you to marry you. If a guy likes a girl and she wouldn't give him the time of day.. she usually would be raped and the ignorant parents to save her dignity would rush their daughter to marry the very person who violated her. Can you even imagine waking up everyday next to that person. There's a reason why drug addiction and distribution calls for a death penalty and rape doesn't in that country.
As a woman, I can't help but say.. you violate a woman you should rot in a 3rd world country jail... as a thinking person... I can't help think that he can possibly be a result of a vindictive snake and a corrupt judicial system and a warning to those who wouldn't pay.
Um and I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right section. I'm sorry. Any thoughts in this case?
