I'm pretty tired of President Chavez getting a bum rap from our corporate media. And I'm tired of Americans, who know nothing about the man, acting like squawking parrots repeating the lies of the corporate media. And I'm tired of our government officials joining in condemning Chavez like a bunch of corporate paid jackals. I hear, "he's crazy, a loose cannon, unstable, a dictator, a communist, out of control, radical, madman." Even Nancy Pelosi said, ""Hugo Chavez fancies himself a modern-day Simon Bolivar, but all he is is an everyday thug." Oh really Nancy!

Here's an amazing video done by a couple of Irish filmakers who wanted to do a piece on Chavez and accidentally ended up capturing the Chavez coup! It's pretty explosive footage. After viewing it I felt jealous of Venezuela. They actually have a democracy. The oil companies, the CIA, and parasites pushing privitization are trying to kill their democracy, but it's still there for now. And it's fragile and beautiful.

Please take a look:

WOWIE, ZOWIE, Mr. Anderson! I didn't know that had happened. The American aircraft that landed on the island where Hugo Chavez had been taken, under arrest and kept incommunicato for the purpose of spiriting him out of his country where he had been democratically elected president, Venezuela, was, I'll bet, a CIA contracted aircraft for that purpose. More to fight against in the United States of America cause that sort of thing has got to be stopped and prevented from happening ever again!

It's also disturbing to me that Venezuelan military who took part in the coup against Chavez are provided safe haven in the United States.

You're right, sweetpea. With the American FBI and CIA looking for American citizens, heros and patriots who oppose and expose the American government's neo-con agenda and crimes, those American citizens are not only not free in Nicaragua, it is most dangerous for them there too!

Just for the record sweetpea ... Venezuela is freer than the United States. I have an American friend who plays in a symphony there, so I hear all about the place.

Question? Did your "open mind" watch the link on this thread? Learn a little about what actually is happening in Venezuela.

And BTW sweetpea, suggesting that fellow American citizens leave their country because you don't like what they say is getting really boring. It's beyond arrogant. It lacks humanity, understanding and tolerance.

Good assessment WafflePancakes. (And spoken like a true Libran, I might add. Carefully and fairly weighing both sides of the issue.) I'd have to agree with you. I mean it just takes one look into the eyes of the Venezuelan President Chavez to see he has the ego the size of Brazil. And no doubt he's groovin' (time for that 60's word to come back ... cool word don't you think?) on the power. And people that groove that much on power make me nervous. BUT ... he's trying very hard to go down in history as the modern day Simon Bolivar. So any movement towards feeding and educating the poor, liberating South America from the stranglehold of the World Bank and IMF, returning the profits of their natural resources back to the poverty-stricken regions and de-privatization and eliminating the international corporate hitmen, would be indeed groovy! :sunny:
