Going Negative & Subliminal: The Confessions of a Republican Ad Writer

I took a couple of film classes in college. They made me more consciously aware that every image in every frame is there for a purpose. From the angle of the shot, to the paintings on the wall, every choice the director makes is made to say something about the character or add to the meaning of the scene.

Now, more than ever, there is valid reason to up the magnification x10 when putting political ads under the microscope -- considering how critical they are to every campaign, how expensive they are, that they've only got 30 or 60 seconds to work with, and how far the ad masters have advanced the art of manipulation and deception.

Click here for a close up of what I see
when I focus the lens on McCain's campaign ads!

That was fun, -V-. I work in Film and Television... it really hits home. In just the legitimate artistry of storyteling for entertainment, we will cut in almost subliminal, less that a second clips, to raise the audiences arousal, and enhance the emotional experience.

Re: Going Negative & Subliminal: The Confessions of a Republican Ad Writer

Thank you for sharing, V. For people not aware or vaguely aware of media manipulation, that information may help them to become more critical in their thinking. Jane and I disconnected, our solution to the problem, but we didn't tune out. Rather, we go deeper, much deeper to expose connections and motives and the men of power who are behind the curtain ordering, paying for the manipulation. We are able to do that because we have more time, time afforded because we're NOT sitting in front of the tube "flipping" the channels that the media manipulators hope will "flip" our minds for hours on end and being distracted from exploring what's really important for us to know.

I suspected your full name was David Lynch! Indeed, your show "Twin Peaks" was very innovative for TV.

Re: Going Negative & Subliminal: The Confessions of a Republican Ad Writer

I know what's really going on in our world because I research, not because I watch television; but, indeed, in spite of television. The material about David Rockefeller and UFOs and aliens are examples. When there is a television program about UFOs and aliens, there is/are always, always one or more distractor(s) and often the best evidence is left out. What that does is encourage doubt. Governments inclusive of secret and private governments; think Rockefeller. Rothchild, etc., have actual agreements with aliens. Could they get aliens to agree to "stage" an alien invasion for the purpose of creating fear in order to establish One World Government/the New World Order? Yes, powers that be could do that as the media owned by them, Rockefeller owns NBC, spins doubt in the people's minds even of the existance of UFOs and aliens on Earth. People are being brainwashed to doubt reality for the purpose of manipulation. When people come face to face with that reality, they are intimidated or killed. The knowledge that that is what they are doing is as much as you need to know to be convinced to search elsewhere for truth. I recommend a campaign to unplug.

Re: Going Negative & Subliminal: The Confessions of a Republican Ad Writer

-V-, if I run into David Lynch and we have a chance to chat about Twin Peaks, I will relate your enjoyment of the show.

I am just another of the somewhat pesky Lynchs in Hollywood committed to entertaining the broad audience, and enriching their lives through fact and fantasy.

Of course, presently, the distinction which may made between fact and fantasy blurs quite a bit, and may be archaic.

So, the surrealism of much of David Lynch's work now occurs in everyday life in astonishing and perplexing ways.

Re: Going Negative & Subliminal: The Confessions of a Republican Ad Writer

The McCain ads are clever and will be, generally, effective.
Truth, accuracy & integrity haven't won any elections in recent times.
Given McCain's limitations, the Repubs best hope is to create and continually re-inforce a negative story line on Obama.

The Repubs are excellent at this...and it could work in the America that twice "elected" BWB (I use the term "elected" lightly).

Re: Going Negative & Subliminal: The Confessions of a Republican Ad Writer

"Truth, accuracy & integrity haven't won any elections in recent times." Yes, human baseness wins over truth, accuracy and integrity. Knowing the human penchant and weakness for baseness is the root of the ability of the powers that be to manipulate We, the peole who they already know prefer it and who they also know they are able to manipulate by it. The press, the 5th estate (HA! Not for a long time now), though, has a professional responsibility to provide true and accurate reporting with integrity, one of the requirments for a democracy. Have We, the people seen press coverage images of the wars, of what the military's exploded depleted uranium shells are doing to the people of those countries environment and water supplies and the birth defects that depleted uranium has caused to They, the people there? NO! Why not? Isn't it vitally important that We, the people do? I'd recommend tuning back in IF We, the people did have a press of the people, for the people and by the people and maybe owned by the people free of any partisanship and corporate influence.

Re: Going Negative & Subliminal: The Confessions of a Republican Ad Writer

McCain said this of his latest ad comparing Obama to Paris Hilton ""We think it's got a lot of humor in it, we're having fun and enjoying it".

But even though Paris Hilton's mom donated $4,600 to McCain's campaign earlier this year she wasn't laughing. She submitted these sentiments on the Huffington Post:

Quote:
It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs.

...And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next president of the United States.

...a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign.

Detestable, yet effective:

Quote:
McCain's attack strategy paying dividends
Associated Press

n the course of the McCain offensive, Obama's lead in a Gallup Poll tracking survey slid from nine percentage points on July 26, when he returned from overseas, to nothing by Saturday, when the poll showed the candidates tied at 44 percent.

Re: Going Negative & Subliminal: The Confessions of a Republican Ad Writer

Today, Bob Herbert of the NYTimes was on a morning show saying the same things I posted about the McCain's "Celeb" ad -- frame by frame, including the phallic symbols, Leaning Tower Of Pisa, etc., as well as the Harold Ford Jr. comparison. Then, all day, the cable talk shows I checked were talking about it.

Coincidence...perhaps. Or perhaps we have been visited by OTHERS. Maybe, we're not floating around all alone in cyberspace . Maybe some posters are overly pessimistic about our power to influence the OTHERS. Things we say can filter out of the POL world into the broader one. Yes we can. We can make news as well as comment on it. Be the observed rather than merely observing.

John McCain is a pig!

You heard me right.

John McCain IS A FILTHY STINKING PIG!

As John loves to say,
"You can put lipstick on a pig and it is still a pig."
I say, you can also put war medals on a pig and it would also still be a pig.
And that's what we've got here folks.

The latest additions to the McCain ad smears -- claiming Obama wants to "teach sex ed to kindergärtners before they learn to read" and the notorious "lipstick" outrage is a new all-time low in campaign ads.

Every time that lying sack of old shit is asked why his campaign turned so negative after he said he wanted to run an honorable campaign he replies, "if Obama had agreed to more debates, things would be different".

What the **** does that mean? He's getting back at Obama for doing the standard 3 debates that is typical of every election. Because McCain didn't get his way he can lie to his hearts content and make up the nastiest crap that Rove and the rest of the Bush disciple's can think up?

The only bright side, is that they have to have bottomed out. They couldn't possibly get any lower. Could they???
